In Isaiah 26:20, we see the Lord is advising us to be calm and be hidden as he expresses his wrath so we are protected from it. Interesting verse it is. Here is the full verse…
Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.
What is God’s message here? Whenever we see that God looking to express his wrath on the land, he always has kept his faithful from harm and encouraged them to be safe. In the times of the virus wrecking havoc in our lives, here are few things we should do as Christians!
- Pray for your family: We usually neglect holding up our family in prayer. Pray that you are healthy – physically, mentally and emotionally. Pray that you grow in faith and be strong for your family, your community and church.
- Be kind and show Christ like love: Jesus was always kind, tended to the weak, sick and poor with an open heart. Be kind to the people around you, the poor and the weak. Share your resources if you can. Show compassion and love.
- Read the Bible and literature: If you have complained that you didn’t have time to read the Bible or other faith building literature, this is the time you get to work on that. Be regular in reading the Bible and make it a habit.
- Build your faith: Be strong. Proclaim your faith and be strong in the Lord. Have your energies focused on the Lord. Your faith means that your relationship with the God is stronger, bigger and clean. Build your protection around your family in prayer and faith.
- Build your family: Spend time with your family. With your spouse, children, parents. Connect with the people who care for you, love you and reconnect and help share faith stories, build on the relationship with God. Use this time to reconnect.
When you are asked to hide, like Israelites did on the night God moved in Egypt to kill the firstborn, they sacrificed a lamb, spent time in prayer, remembering His works and promises. Heed to this.
